This resort in the Swiss canton of Graubünden is well known as a ski paradise for the rich and famous, but this was the scene around midsummer's day with very few tourists to be seen. The lake is the Obersee, which at 1734m is overlooked by the Weiisshorn peak at 2653m, and the Hörnli at 2513m.
The best reason to visit Arosa in summer is to experience the dramatic scenery during the 60 minute train journey on the Rhäitische railway from Chur, where the branch line from Arosa links up with the famous Glacier Express.
